The Hill behind the town of Fredericksburg is called Marye's Heights. Along this high ground was a old sunken road with a stone wall. The Confederates waited behind this wall until the Union soldiers came within a few yards of the wall. The Confederates destroyed the Union blue completely.

Wave after Wave of Union died. Over 6,300 killed in just a few minutes. (Almost as many that were killed in the great Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg)
